Phase II Environmental Testing And Investigation
The Phase II Environmental Testing and Investigation is site specific, detailed testing and investigation to identify, define, delineate, and quantify contamination and/or contaminants associated with recognized environmental conditions.
Phase II Environmental Testing and Investigation is often based on findings and recommendations from a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) or specific suspected, observed, or known recognized environmental conditions.
Phase II Environmental Testing and Investigation consists of four (4) basic main components: |
|
|
1. Project Work Plan |
- A project work plan is prepared to include information on the scope of work, site conditions, sample locations, materials to be sampled, sampling methodologies and procedures, and analytical parameters.
2. Sample Collection
|
- A specific sample is collected utilizing sterilized and calibrated sampling equipment. The sample is sealed, characterized and labeled for identification purposes. The sample is preserved and transported to an independent accredited laboratory under a completed chain-of-custody.
3. Laboratory Analysis
|
- An independent accredited laboratory will analyze the sample pursuant to the parameters established in the project work plan.
4. Evaluation and Recommendation
|
- The laboratory results are thoroughly evaluated and compared against established regulatory limits and standards to determine a course of action, such as no further action (NFA), additional sampling and analysis, or corrective action and remediation.
Phase II Environmental Testing and Investigation is associated with recognized environmental conditions such as: |
|
Bulk Storage Tanks (underground and aboveground)
Drummed/Containerized Wastes and Materials
Asbestos-Containing Materials
·
|
Lead-Based Paint
Stains and Odors
Spills/Discharges/Releases
Drainage Systems
Mold
|
|
Phase II Environmental Testing and Investigation is often used to evaluate the environmental quality of the following: |
|
Industrial Sites and Plants
Commercial Sites
Manufacturing Facilities
Hotels and Resorts
·
|
Utility Plants
Service and Maintenance Stations
Shopping Centers
Multiple-Unit Residential Complexes
